What’s Outside is a coming documentary about Wilderness Works at work. Please join us in a peek at one of our chief programs for our older campers: Field Camp. Please see what Julie's Dream is supporting! Inspiring What’s Outside reveals true outdoor adventure for a group of Wilderness Works disadvantaged middle schoolers as they backpacked through rugged Four Pass Loop near Aspen, Colorado in June 2018. Friends & Family, attached are a culmination of photos from the awesome work that Julie's Dream is doing in its inaugural year. Many of you are aware that my late wife, Julie, was in the midst of creating a public charity before she was diagnosed with cancer in February of 2017. She was inspired to create a non-profit with the goal of sharing the love and hope of Jesus with disadvantaged and under-resourced children in Atlanta through outdoor education and wilderness experiences. Her family and friends created Julie's Dream (a 501c3 public charity) in November of 2017 and formally launched the organization on January 20, 2018. It was a symbolic start, because Julie had intended to launch her charity in January of 2018. The night of the first Julie's Dream fundraising and awareness event, the organization raised over $285,000 in less than 10 minutes, a clear answer to prayer and a testament to the awesome life that Julie led. We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of so many who have donated to Julie's Dream and for those who have volunteered their time and efforts. Early on, we identified two partner organizations who were excited to collaborate and who we knew could benefit from our efforts from the start. Many thanks to Agape and to Wilderness Works and their leadership teams - these are amazing organizations with true servant leaders. And both organizations were places where Julie had served as a volunteer. Our goal was to create impact immediately. And with the funds we raised in January and a willingness on the part of our partners to create new programs and augment existing ones, we knew we could accomplish this goal in a big way. In 2018, Julie’s Dream gave over 100 disadvantaged children in Atlanta: • 12 opportunities to day hike in the great outdoors in Metro Atlanta (Kennesaw Mt, Palisades, Old Mill, and Paces Mill, among others). • An opportunity to learn to ride, saddle, and care for a horse at Chastain Horse Park. • 16 day trip to Colorado and Utah to experience backcountry camping and backpacking in two National Parks • 2 days of canoeing, team building, ropes courses, archery, and zip lining at Camp Twin Lakes in Rutledge, GA

It’s been an amazing Summer seeing how Julie’s Dream has come to fruition and we are so excited to share how our partnership with Agape has already changed so many kid’s lives this Summer! Partnering with Agape, we were able to help support 10 hikes in the Atlanta area including Kennesaw Mountain, Chattahoochee River Trails, Palisades and Old Mill in Roswell. Each hike took approximately 25-30 kids and 4 staff members. Agape was also able to take approximately 57 kids to Chastain Horse Park where they were able to ride the horses, care for the horses and explore the barn. The kids loved the adventures and how it got them outdoors to experience God’s creations. We are just getting started and look forward to more adventures this Fall!

Here are some incredible photos from a couple of the Agape hikes. All of the kids at Agape have truly enjoyed the great outdoors this Summer! Thanks to Julie’s Dream funding, they have been able to hike Kennesaw Mountain trails, East Palisades and the Chattahoochee Trails close to North Atlanta High School! This is just the beginning! A big shout out to Marlon and Nell with Agape for all their hard work and making these happen!

Julie's Dream

Dear amazing family & friends, In memory and in celebration of Julie’s awesome life and birthday today, we wanted to send you all an update on Julie’s Dream, the public charity that Julie’s family and close friends created to honor her legacy. This organization, which is centered on providing disadvantaged children in Atlanta with unique outdoor education and wilderness adventure experiences through the love and hope of Jesus, was the idea Julie had first dreamed of in 2008 and was planning on launching in 2018. Julie’s Dream attained non-profit 501c3 status on 11/27/17, and we are proud to be formally launching the Julie’s Dream website this week. Please visit www.juliesdream.org to learn more. Also, the very first program that has been entirely funded by Julie’s Dream will launch June 12th. Eleven boys from the Wilderness Works organization will be embarking on a trip to Colorado and Utah from June 12th to June 28th. The majority of these boys are homeless and several others live in some of the toughest neighborhoods in Atlanta. Three of the boys are high-school aged and will be mentoring the eight younger middles school-aged boys. They will be chaperoned by two adult leaders, including Bill Mickler, Executive Director of Wilderness Works. Their travels will include Rocky Mountain National Park, Arapahoe National Forest, Moab, and Canyonlands National Park. For many of these boys, it will be their first time outside of Georgia. A tremendous thank you to our many supporters and our partner organizations, Agape, and Wilderness Works. We are blown away by the generosity and the interest of so many. Also, I am so grateful for our Board and Advisory Council and all the time and effort you have given to this amazing calling. God Bless, Chad, Charlie & Smith

Happy birthday to our little Angel! Beyond amazed and proud at what Chad and the boys have accomplished with Julie’s Dream!!!
